At this point in time, eligible recipients for a donated device must live in Canada, where the healthcare system does not yet cover the Agilik. People from all over the world can donate to the cause though.

If you have a physical need for the Agilik—according to your doctor or orthotist—and match the eligibility requirements for this campaign, you can apply.

You will need:

1. Contact information: so we can contact you.
2. Orthotist’s contact: your orthotist’s contact information for collaboration on the fitting process.
3. Age requirement: the user must be a minimum of five years of age and under the age of 18 on May 13, 2024.

Please remember that the Agilik will not be delivered to the final user but only to their certified orthotist.

We know there are other potential use cases for the Agilik, including some partial spinal cord injuries and muscular dystrophy. A large percentage of people post-stroke will have hemiparesis with which the Agilik can help. If you have a physical need for the Agilik—according to your doctor or orthotist—and match the eligibility requirements for this campaign, you can apply.

Unfortunately, not everyone who submits an application as part of this campaign will receive an Agilik. But there are other options for people to get a device so please reach out to us at info@bionic-power.com to discuss other options.

We do device demos all the time and you should go to the Try it Out page of our website and sign up for a virtual presentation as a first step. During that we can discuss in-person demonstrations in your area. However, because this campaign is first-come, first-serve, according to the campaign terms and conditions, we suggest you submit your application as quickly as you can. All those selected to receive a device in this campaign will have an in-person trial session to confirm suitability before starting the KAFO fabrication process.

If you are one of the first 25 people (subject to campaign funding) to submit a completed application and you are eligible to receive a donated Agilik, we will let you know after reviewing your submission. Eligible people will be placed on our list in “first-come, first-serve” order. For every $20,000 donated, we will select an Agilik recipient. Once we have selected a recipient, we will take the following steps:

1. We will speak with your orthotist about your requirements and specific condition.
2. We will arrange an in-person meeting with you, your orthotist, and preferably your physical therapist, where you will have an opportunity to try out the Agilik with our adjustable KAFO, which we call the Test Drive.
3. If your orthotist and physical therapist or doctor confirm you can benefit from the Agilik, we move to the next stage, which is to train your orthotist on the requirements for the KAFO that will be attached to the Agilik system.
4. An Agilik will be shipped to your orthotist, and they will construct your custom KAFO and Agilik system.
5. When your system is complete, we will train your therapist on how to tune the Agilik for you, and then you will receive your Agilik.

All Agilik users require a custom KAFO, the cost of which this campaign does not cover. This cost varies as a function of many variables and should be discussed with your doctor and orthotist. If you have an existing KAFO, please talk to your orthotist to see whether it can be retrofitted for the Agilik. If they have questions, they should reach out to us at info@bionic-power.com and we will be happy to help them determine if the KAFO could be retrofitted.

The Agilik device is designed to grow with the wearer, with an approximate lifetime of six years. The Agilik can be taken off one KAFO and put onto a new one, as necessary, for users who are growing.  

The Agilik isn’t right for everyone, and it does require a medical prescription. To be eligible for a device under this campaign, you need a doctor and orthotist’s support. Should your doctor require more scientific information on the product, they can reach out to us at info@bionic-power.com and our product specialist will be available to answer all their questions.
